ILUKA: Focus in Eucla Basin Moves from Jacinth to Adjoining Ambrosia Deposit

The first mine in the Jacinth/Ambrosia area (about 270 km northwest of Ceduna in the Eucla Basin, South Australia) was opened in October 2009. Capital investment in the project was $Aus 390 million, including $Aus 63 million for the associated upgrading of the Narngulu mineral separation plant. Between April 2016 and December 2017, the mine was closed in order to enable Iluka to run down its excessively high zircon inventories. Jacinth and Ambrosia are two contiguous deposits. The Jacinth deposit measures about 5 km by 900 metres, while the Ambrosia deposit measures about 2.2 km by 850 metres. The ore thickness is around 15-40 metres throughout both deposits.
