This design approach combines two traditional separation stages into a single stage, which reduces the pumping requirement and the plant footprint, with capital and operating cost savings. Twin-start Minerals Technologies VHG spirals will be used for the final upgrading stage of very high grade "clean" feed (now containing 90% heavy minerals). The flowsheet design also includes a constant density surge tank, so as to provide a 60-minute buffer between the dozer mining unit and the wet concentrator.
