Prior to 2018, Venator had operated a sulfate-route TiO2 pigment plant in the Zone Industrielle des Dunes at Calais, located just beyond the hoverport. The plant came on-stream in April 1967, with an initial capacity of 20,000 t.p.a. By 1987 it had been expanded to 100,000 t.p.a. The 'black end' of the plant ceased operating in Q3 2015 and the 'white end' ceased operating in 2017.
