For more than 30 years, Rio Tinto has been the world's largest TiCh feedstock supplier and it retains that position today, as well as being the world's largest supplier of high-quality pig iron and the second largest supplier of zircon. It has consistently been in the top quartile of the mineral sands industry's revenue/cost curve. The company also produces up to 200,000 t.p.a. of Atomet metal powders and up to 500,000 t.p.a. of Sorelsteel cylindrical steel billets at its Sorel complex (about 90 km northeast along the River St. Lawrence from Montreal).
