The Schneeberg District in the famous Saxon Erzgebirge of Germany has been a source of mineral specimens and mineral discoveries since late medieval times, and is the type locality for no less than 39 minerals including bismuth, erythrite, roselite, and zeunerite. Ores of silver, cobalt, nickel, bismuth, copper and uranium have sustained centuries of mining and mining culture while supplying countless mineral collectors and museums worldwide with mineral treasures.
