摘要

Q: How did you choose the Army for a career instead of industry, academia, or government service directly? A: Funny story. I grew up in an Army family, moved constantly from one Army post to another as my dad drew various assignments. For my dad, his military aspirations started in high school ROTC, and then he went to West Point, and on to a very successful career. He met my mom at West Point. She lived there because her dad was a civilian instructor at West Point. I grew up wanting to be a marine biologist - that's the funny part - but when we moved to Fort Bragg when I was going into 9th grade, my mom signed me up for the high school ROTC program, and I did well in it. And then I got into West Point. So, future decided. I was commissioned in 1982 as an Infantry 2nd Lieutenant. Just like dad.
