Addressing Intimate Partner Violence at a Safety-Net Clinic for Adults

Barriers to nurse practitioners (NPs) addressing intimate partner violence (IPV) include time, lack of education and knowledge about IPV, and not knowing how to respond to disclosure or how to access community resources. The purpose of this evidence-based quality improvement project was to improve the rate of NPs addressing IPV during annual women's health visits. The project was conducted at a safety-net clinic. An evidence-based safety-card intervention was implemented. The project resulted in an increase in the rate of NPs addressing IPV and referral to resources. (c) 2019 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
