Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd. (HEC), Ranchi was incorporated on December 31,1958 under the Companies Act, 1956. It was set up under the administrative control of Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, with the primary objective of achieving self-sufficiency and self-reliance in the field of design and manufacture of equipment and machinery for core sector, especially steel industry. The manufacturing facilities at HEC were created in collaboration with erstwhile USSR and Czechoslovakia wherefromthe initial product design and process technology were sourced. With manufacturing set-up for each stage of manufacturing operation, starting from preparation of liquid metal, pouring them to ingot, getting a finished steel forging, fabrication of large components and heavy machining operation facilities, HEC is placed as a unique manufacturing complex, second to none in India.
