摘要

BACKGROUND: While the majority Canadians deaths (73%) occur in the hospital, end of life care is often unplanned. Agreement between the patient's expressed preferences for end of life care and documentation in the medical record occurs only in 30% of the cases. In our institution, resident trainees often have the responsibility of having these discussions with patients and their families. We aimed to assess practices, and barriers of residents in approaching goals of care (GOC) discussions; we also evaluate their attitudes on their training on end of life discussions.
