BARRY PHILIP MOORE, 1925-2015, COLEOPTERIST, CHEMIST AND NATURAL HISTORIAN

Barry Moore was an English-born entomologist and biochemist who spent part of his career as an insecticide chemist and avid amateur collector in England before migrating to Australia, at age 33 in 1958, to eventually spend a brilliant career with CSIRO Division of Entomology researching chemical aspects of insect behaviour. In his private life he collected and studied Coleoptera and became a world authority on the Carabidae. Most of his collection passed to the Australian National Insect Collection.
