The Uruguayan authorities have set restrictions on the use of the herbicide, atrazine, and the organochlorine insecticide/ acaricide, endosulfan. The Ministry of Agriculture's agricultural services director general office, the DGSSAA, issued resolutions earlier this year for each pesticide, following reviews as part of a revision of active ingredients outside of WHO toxicity category la or lb. The sale and use of products based on either ai may only be carried out through a "professional receipt" requested by a professional agronomist "who authorises its use". There is a "consequent evaluation of the appropriateness or necessity of the application of products based on the active ingredient". It is for retailers to corroborate the intended use of products.
