Wheat stripe rust draft genome sequence completed

The first draft genome sequence of a virulent strain of the fungal pathogen, wheat stripe rust (Puccinia striformis f sp tritici race 130 - PST130) has been completed by an international consortium of researchers led by the US University of California (Davis). PST130 was first isolated in 2007 and is representative of the most virulent strains of wheat stripe rust that have appeared in the past decade.
