MEPs urge practical limits on GM feed imports

Members of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee have called for the "practical" application of thresholds for unauthorised genetically modified material in imports of protein crops. The call comes in a resolution on ways to overcome the EU's low production of protein crops and high prices for imported feed. EU member states are currently considering proposals from the European Commission that would avoid bans on imports that contain low levels of certain non-EU-approved GMOs.
