摘要

Markon's (2018) comment on the O'Connor (2017) article advances the debate on the computation of reliability coefficients from test information functions. The present reply to Markon (2018) places his statements in broader context regarding the interpretation of test information values and it outlines an area of apparent disagreement. It also describes new R code (a) for revealing the attenuation in effect sizes that occurs for combinations of constant test information values for two measures, and (b) for obtaining empirically based estimates of the degree of attenuation that is caused by fluctuating levels of measurement error in specific data sets.
