Academician Yakov Mikhailovich Kolotyrkin on the Centennial of His Birth (November 14, 1910-November 5, 1995): A Short Biography and His Main Accomplishments
Hero of Socialist Labor, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Yakov Mikhailovich Kolotyrkin (1910-1995) was one of the greatest representatives of Soviet and Russian physical chemistry.Kolotyrkin was born on November 14(1, old-style calendar), 1910, in the village of Zanino, Smolenk oblast, into a peasant family. In 1922, he graduated from Mamonov Rural Elementary School, and in 1928, from Dukhovshchina high school, Smolenk oblast. From 1930 to 1931, he worked as a labor administration inspector on kolhozes. From 1931, he was the deputy secretary of the Regional Committee of the All- Soviet Lenin Communist Youth League (Dukhovshchina, Smolenk oblast); from 1931 to 1932, the president of the Klepiki Rural Soviet of Smolensk oblast.
