Successful foray of happy seeder technology in ramdas and adjoining

Happy Seeder is one of the unique technologies, which is used for sowing wheat without burning of paddy residue. This technology is eco-friendly for prevention of environment degradation, for the health of soil and it also saves water required for sowing of new crop. The research work on Happy Seeder was initiated by Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, PAL), Ludhiana and trials on farmers' fields for sowing of wheat were initiated in the year 2006. The technology for Happy Seeder wastransferred to Sh. Joginder Singh Kamboj, owner of Kamboj Mechanical Works, Ramdas, who made the machinery in consultation with the PAU scientists. The first farmer to adopt this technology in year 2007 for sowing of wheat on 2 acres of his land was Sh.Jaswinder Singh of village Shehzada Kalan, Dera Baba Nanak, Gurdaspur. Slowly other farmers started showing interest in this technology but the cost of machinery was a detriment.
