More than 75 per cent of wheat is harvested using harvesting combines. Majority of the combine harvesters are operated on custom hiring. Operators of hired combines are in a hurry to complete the work at the earliest to earn more, which at times causes avoidable damage to the crop. It can result in grain losses as well as cracking of grains. This all happens due to improper training and fast coverage at higher speed by the combine operators. However, proper adjustments of the combines by the operators can avoid these damages.
