Use efficient machinery to manage paddy straw

Paddy-wheat is the major cropping system of Punjab and these crops are largely harvested using combine harvesters. It is estimated that around 14 and 20 million tonnes of wheat and paddy straw, respectively, is generated in the State annually. Wheat straw is recovered (80-90%) by using threshers and straw combines but paddy straw is still a major problem.
