摘要

The CORROSION behaviour of carbon steel was investigated in seawatsr. A suitable mechanism of corrosion a proposed based on the results obtained from the electrochemical and weight-loss measurements. The nature of the formed protective film on the: alloy surface was begin analysed by X-ray diffraction (XR.D) and was found to be a double layer consisting of Fe_2O_3 and Fe_3O_4. A metallographic study using scanning-electron microscopy of pits along the alloy surface after ageing in seawater.
