Vale: Adrian Hofman-ACA Life Member, Newcastle Branch

The Newcastle Branch sadly records the passing of one of its longest serving members, Adrian ("Ade") Hofman. Adrian attended the very first meeting of the Newcastle Division, which was held in the offices of the Hunter District Water Board on 19~(th) April, 1963. (The Newcastle Division grew so rapidly that it obtained full Branch status only seven months later.) Adrian was always very active in the Branch, serving continuously on Branch Committee for over 20 years. He served as Vice-President (1973-74), Branch President (1975-76), and a very diligent Branch Secretary from 1978 to 1992, during which time he was on the organising committees for two Australasian Conferences held in Newcastle in 1977 and 1985. Those who attended the social activities at these Conferences will no doubt remember Ade's wife Hazell, whose hospitality towards the visiting ladies made the social programmes so successful. On the Australasian level, Ade was a Branch Councillor over many years and was Australasian Standards Officer from 1975 to 1980. He was awarded a Life Membership for his services to the Association in 1985.
