Newsprint prices up in most of Asia as shuts and RCP costs bite; more hikes expected soon

Newsprint prices have crept up this quarter in much of Asia, though for the moment are unchanged in the key market of India. They have climbed about $5/tonne to $470-495/tonne for the dominant 45 g grade in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan. Thai prices are similarly up $5/ tonne but are little lower at $465-490/ tonne for 45 g paper.
