Morphogenetic potential of shoot tip and nodal explants of Antirrhinum majus L. cvs. Rocket redstone and Rocket golden was studies by culturing them on MS medium supplemented with various growth regulators. Effect of. various concentrations of auxinsand cytokinins on the rate of growth in shoot tip cultures of cv. Yellow was also studied. MS + IBA (9.8 mu M) + BAP (8.87 mu M) for shoot tip cultures in cv Rocket Golden and MS + BAP (8,87 mu M) / .1/2 MS + IAA (5.71 mu M) in cv. Rocket redstone and MS+ IAA(28.54 mu M) / Kin (4.65 mu M) in cv. Rocket golden for nodal cultures were found to be best suited for multiple shoot induction. Histological studies revealed the presence of shoot meristematic zones and their development into shoot primordia.
