Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of India's biggest waste-to-energy plant at Bandhwari village on the Faridabad-Gurugram highway. Claimed to be the largest such plant in the country, it is slated to produce nearly 10 MW of power from August 2019. The plant will be built and operated by EcoGreen, a Chinese company. The greens claimed a decentralised model of segregation and composting was a better way to deal with the city's thrash. Describing it as a giant move towards cleanliness, the CM said more such plants could come up in future. Claiming that the government was serious in its approach towards the programmes that benefit the masses, he said cooperation and support of the people was also important in implementation of schemes.
