PE: Only with LDPE and C6 film grades could producers in June factor in the EUR 60/t increase in the C2 cost without difficulties. With the pipe grades, they lifted margins significantly. For other PE grades, the attempt to pass on the higher cost failed since converters had stocked up when prices were low. Demand was below expectations. In the agricultural sector, the rain in later June provided stimulus. Food and hygiene films were largely stable. As the holidays are starting, demand in July could soften. A price hike for many grades is likely following the tough negotiations that saw the C2 reference contract fixed EUR 84/t higher for July.
