Large-scale PE plant in Mexico helps lift H1 results / Debottlenecking of PP plants in Germany

Resins producer Braskem (Sao Paulo / Brazil; www.braskem. com) posted Q2 EBITDA of BRL 3.029 bn (EUR 818m), rising 1 % year-on-year, and net income jumped to BRL 1.142 bn from BRL 275m a year earlier. This was driven by production increase from its new PE complex in Mexico, but depreciation of the Brazilian real reduced the results. The Mexican plant's output grew in H1 2017 to 467,300 t (H1 2016: 83,500 t).
