The spate of price increases on the North American thermoplastics markets seems to be over, at least for the time being. According to PIE's cooperation partner RTi (Fort Worth, Texas / USA; www.resinpros.com), PE producers had to rescind their calls for further hikes of USD 66/t due to the mounting stocks held by US producers. The increases were postponed to May, when producers hope they can reduce their stocks by raising exports and thus be able to push through the increases. Spot prices will point the way, although the first prices at the start of May on the open market showed a slight decline.
