PE: After a stabilisation in the last months, European PE producers at last pushed through an increase in margins in May. In most cases, the hikes were more than the increase in the C2 reference for May. The rises were due mostly to shorter supply, with stoppages for cracker maintenance made worse by unscheduled outages. Demand rose and the hikes generally were moderate. The C2 reference for June rolled over. This should be the reference for large sections of the PE portfolio since improved production is expected. The maintenance season is ending, but demand is showing little stimulus.
