Hammatoceratidae (Ammonitina) from the Upper Toarcian-lowermost Bajocian (Jurassic) of the Betic Cordillera (Southern Spain)

Hammatoceratidae (Hammatoceratoidea Ammonitida) are common from the Upper Toarcian to the Lower Bajocian of different stratigraphic sections of the Subbetic domain (Betic Cordillera, Southern Spain) of the Mediterranean Province. In several sections of this Mediterranean area, consisting of pelagic or hemipelagic marly-limestone rhythmites, the ammonoids are abundant and the stratigraphic range of the diverse taxa present can be easily and accurately determined. This also shows the morpho-structural changes that took place in the ammonite taxa appearing in the stratigraphic record through geological time and the evolutionary processes.
