COFFEE PLANTATION INDUSTRY

Coffee is an important beverage in the Western Hemisphere. About 1,000 million rupees worth of coffee enters the world market every year of which India's share comes to about Rs.10 million. In spite of meagre production India has been able to maintainher position as the producer of one of the best quality coffees, and the best cured coffee in the world, and though she has a few rivals, she has been able to maintain her position. In India, the coffee habit is mainly confined to South India, althoughin recent years it is slowly spreading all over the country.
