Excerpts of the Chief Guest Address by Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member-NITI Aayog at the 126th UPASI Annual Conference held on 14th September 2019

I thank UPASI for inviting me to the 126th annual event. It provided me an opportunity to learn lot about the plantation crops. The plantation crops are unique in their own characteristics and does not resemble in any way with the other kind of cropsincluding wheat which I am familiar with. I really see a clear contrast between all aspects of plantation crops and field crops and also between planters and those who are raising the field crops. In fact when I compare the conditions of those who raisefield crops with the planters, I feel envy that you live in a such a wonderful environment. I must say, in today's world to live with nature is a greatest blessing. I have seen the metro, urban lifestyle in Delhi, but the kind of plantation environment and live amidst nature, to my mind is far more superior than the environment in which other kind of people are living.
