Kuwait advances clean fuels project

Kuwait’s state-owned downstream company KNPC has awarded three contracts worth 3.4bn dinars($12bn) to upgrade and expand its Mina Abdul-lah and Mina al-Ahmadi refineries and increase their combined capacity to 800,000 b/d from 736,000 b/d.The much-delayed refinery upgrades are part of a wider“clean fuels project” programme,which aims to increase operation efficiency and reduce pro-duction of heavy end products at the refineries(WPA,11 October,p3).
