Japan stumbles in pursuit of oil, gas output goal

Japanese energy frms’ upstream production fell in the 2017-18 fnancial year because of the loss of key Indonesian concessions, dealing a blow to the govern- ment’s push for equity oil and gas output to meet 40pc of the country’s demand in 2030. Japanese upstream frms’ share of production from overseas felds totalled 1.452mn b/d of oil equivalent (boe/d), down by around 5pc from 1.53mn boe/d a year earlier, trade and industry ministry Meti says.
