摘要

US upstream mergers and acquisitions (M&A) activity is expected to spread, as Texas' Permian basin runs out of sizeable acreage, encouraging producers to look for assets elsewhere, such as in North Dakota's Bakken formation. Other regions drawing attention include the Anadarko basin - across Oklahoma and north Texas - the Eagle Ford, also in Texas, and Louisiana's Haynesville shale. Deal activity in these regions is unlikely to overtake that of the Permian soon. But it is expected to pivot from what has been "very much a Permian story", consultancy PwC's principal for US energy sector deals, Mile Milisavljevic, says. "I think that we have now run out of powder in the Permian, where the agenda of portfolio rationalisation has run its course."
