MANAGING THE EUROPEAN TRANSITION

In Northern Europe and Mediterranean areas there are zones of extreme climatic range. These climates favour the retention of cool season grasses in the cooler periods and warm season grasses in the hotter summers.A characteristic of these zones is that neither cool or warm season grasses are dominant in the wide climatic extremes. The winter temperatures are at times sub-zero and in the summers can go as high as late 30 degrees centigrade.
