2013 FARRER ORATION A FARRER LEGACY -INNOVATION THROUGH COLLABORATION

Andrew Inglis is a very fitting recipient of the 2013 Farrer Memorial Medal. He has been on the agripolitical landscape since 1969 and in that time has been involved in just about every major organisation in the grain industry. He has contributed to Australia's grain and other agricultural industries as a member of various committees while maintaining until quite recently an active life as a farmer-owner of a beef and grain farm in the mid north of South Australia. Currently he is Chairman of the Future Farm Industries CRC, Chairman of the Biosecurity Advisory Council, and Presiding Member of the Natural Resource Management Council, South Australia.Andrew's initiatives in support of grains research and development began when he was Deputy Chair of the Grains Section of the then United Farmers and Stockowners of SA in 1982, being instrumental in the development of the unique South Australian GrainsIndustry Trust (SAGIT) which is based on legislation for a collected voluntary levy with a provision to opt out.
