The work presents a network architecture which is supported by three-tier wireless protocol interfaces, such as Bluetooth, Zigbee and Wi-Fi for monitoring ambient parameters in a multi-storied library building environment. The Cooperative network coding communication is established by using indigenously developed network resources, including multiple sensor nodes and a destination node. An algorithm referred as parameter threshold based dynamic transmission duty cycle control (PT-DTDC) is proposed in which transmission duty cycle is decided on the basis of environmental parameter values, such as temperature, relative humidity and carbon-di-oxide. The algorithm improves energy efficiency by an average of 2.79 times than the existing network coded cooperative communication. Similarly, wireless network performance characteristics, such as throughput, network traffic and end-to-end delay are found to be improved than that of the traditional network coding technique by introducing a Network Coding Based Intelligent Decision Control with Effective Rebroadcast (NC-IDCER) algorithm.
