Preliminary Report on Steel Consumption in ASEAN-6 in 2018

Steel consumption in ASEAN-6 has started to recover in 2018, with an estimated increase of around 2-3 million tonnes over 2017 to as much as 77 million tonnes. All six countries in the region are expected to register positive growth rates in steel demand. Indonesia and Philippines' ongoing construction projects had helped to boost up more steel demand in 2018, thus contributing to stronger consumption growth rates in both countries in the year.
