Japan's ministry of economy, trade and industry expects total steel demand in the July-September quarter of this year to reach 23.75 million tonnes, up by a mere 0.7% year-on-year, it said in a press release last week. This is also expected to be an increase of 2.8% from the finalized figure for the previous quarter.
