Highlights from the Current Issue: August 2017

Welcome to August. Summer is always a time of change in the academic community. Students move on to residencies, residents enter fellowship or begin practice, and many faculty physicians are promoted or move for new opportunities. As I now write to you from Texas, I have also transitioned into a new role and am leading a fledging medical school in its growth and development. New opportunities present new challenges, but they also allow the potential to influence others and create meaningful change. Such it is as we work with our patients. We learn new skills, refine our practices based on stronger and more compelling evidence, and strive to achieve evermore positive outcomes in our surgical and medical practices. Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery is committed to working with all of our readers and authors to provide that guidance and to publish the most compelling and influential data and opinions in our field. Please look at these current 5 papers as examples of our commitment to all of our stakeholders and to those who place their trust in the journal.
