A number of America's youth are not consuming their recommended daily intake of calcium.1 Calcium not mly supports healthy bone development and growth, it also supports a healthy lifestyle. Studies have shown that children who consume milk throughout the day consume less "empty" and non-nutritious calories as well. Consuming calcium-containing foods has also been associated with the likelihood of having a well-rounded and balanced diet.Cow's milk and other dairy sources are a huge source of calcium in the American diet. There are so many easy and tasty ways to get one's daily allotment of calcium. Products from milk and yogurt to fortified orange juice and whole grain bread offer high levels of calcium. The following reproducible CORE tool is to be used to aid the caregivers of pediatric patients to manage their child's calcium intake.
