Good measurement accuracy in the fuel bunkering industry is vital due to the sheer volume and value of fluid in bulk storage tanks worldwide.For example,49.8 million tonnes of fuel was stored in the port of Singapore alone for 2018.Determining the volume or mass of liquid in a storage tank is achieved through tank gauging,which is required for assessing tank contents,inventory control and tank farm management.The available tank-gauging techniques includes: manual gauging;float and tape gauges;servo gauges;radar gauges;and hydrostatic tank gauges.
