The Asian fuel oil market has been propelled to stratospheric levels, lifted by a supply crunch. But the gasoline market has sunk to its weakest level in years, dragged down by a major oversupply that is likely to worsen with the return of refineries from turnarounds. The gasoil market has also softened under pressure from oversupply, although workable arbitrages from Asia to Europe and Africa are providing a measure of support.
