Coal as a pollutant is a known fact, but it is probably the only fuel source that starts doing its dirty work in the transportation stage itself. The transport of coal in Goa, for example is at the rate of 25 tonnes a minute, by rail, road and river, leaving in its wake health risks and environmental damage across the state.
