Collision Leads to Spill in Port Arthur, Texas

A vessel collision led to an oil spill in the Port of Port Arthur Texas (USA) in late August 2018. The leak was secured and containment boom deployed. An urgent marine transit warning was issued for other vessels transiting Texaco Point and Port Arthur, but traffic was not impeded. Towing vessel Savage Pathfinder collided with motot vessel MV Endurance late on Wednesday, 29 August 2018, at Dock 4 in the Intracoastal Waterway. Endurance was moored at the time of the incident when Savage Pathfinder struck it as it was preparing to refuel Endurance. An estimated 13,272 gallons (316 barrels) of marine diesel fuel oil spilled.
