Horizontal rig release count soars to 224 as Cardium oil rush strengthens

Oil-directed horizontal drilling in the Cardium tight sands of west-central Alberta shows no sign of slowing as the current surge in activity approaches its first anniversary. Daily Oil Bulletin statistics show 224 horizontal Cardium wells targeting oil were rig released between Jan. 1 and mid-August.
