ERCB nixes E-T Energy project

Management of a private Calgary-based company will be considering other alternatives after the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) turned down its application for a commercial in situ project in the Athabasca oilsands that would use an electrical current to heat the bitumen. E-T Energy Ltd. said that in light of the decision, the timing of the results from an ongoing field test and weak capital markets, it might consider a smaller project building upon the existing Step 3 field test surface assets of the electro-thermal dynamic stripping process (ET-DSP) at Poplar Creek.
