We read the study concerning the evaluation of the mechanical aspects of the Nice knot with great interest. In our department, we routinely use this knot tying technique for tubercle fractures, closing osteotomies and also as a cerclage technique and we can confirm the ease of use, strength and good clinical results. We have a question though concerning the Nicky knot, a frequently used arthroscopic knot tying technique you compare the Nice knot with in the study. In figure 1 a drawing of a knot claiming to be the Nicky knot is shown. Nonetheless we know this technique to be quite different from which is shown in the figure and many references, including the original reference from De Beer et al. "Nicky's knot-a new slip knot for arthroscopic surgery" in Arthroscopy 14, 1998, 109-110 to which you refer show a different knot [1,2,3]. Since there is no further written description of the knot it is difficult to interpret which knot actually was used. Can you give some further explanation or provide a further written description of the knot that was used?
