A Violet Bee - or Maybe a Wonderful Way to Grow Membership

The ladies sitting around the table are strangers, but they are laughing and joking as if they are friends. On the table there are small Solo cups, snips of yarn, perlite, potting medium, a plant with a three-inch neck that looks something like a palmtree, a rather sick plant in a plastic bag and oh, yes, violet leaves, and even some Episcia stolens. You might want to call this a Violet Bee, but it is really not. It is Janet Castiglione's violet school. Janet stages her informative school for all those that visit the First Denton African Violet Show and Sale. Each year the little school has drawn more and more participants and out of those a few new members for the club. Some are returning with problem plants to get some help or advice. Sometimes they just want some support or courage as they cut the mature crown from its three-inch neck. Not only does this program educate and inform the public about our hobby and club, it also helps increase sales of starter plants and leaves.
