Social media sites commonly are used to stay connected with family and friends, but they also can be effective educational and professional tools. Social media platforms offer medical imaging instructors an accessible, inexpensive way to engage students while increasing their online presence.1 Using unique hashtags on social media sites also can increase engagement and improve learning. As expected, instructors must be mindful of potential risks associated with using social media and the Internet in the classroom, such as crossing boundaries between professional and personal use.3 However, with proper planning and instruction, instructors can avoid the potential hazards of social media while reaping its educational benefits.
