摘要

Clinical informatics is the study and use of data and information technology to deliver health care services. Imaging informatics refers to the methods of managing and integrating medical images. As a subspecialty of clinical informatics, imaging informatics is important to the health care process and improves patient outcomes through effective use of images and the knowledge derived from images. Radiologic science students must understand informatics as new platforms and applications emerge and affect workflow. Exposing students to informatics in the patient care classroom builds self-confidence in their ability to identify issues that might arise while caring for patients and provides a greater understanding of their role in health care. Educators have a responsibility to help future radiologic science professionals gain insight into informatics as health care moves toward value-based, patient-centered care.
